 Dear Friends, Task Force Detainees of the Philippines (TFDP), writes to inform you about the harassment committed against a hapless muslim belonging to a Tausog tribe. The victim is Mr. Temogen Sahipa Tulawie, 39 years old, married with five (5) children, a resident of Scott road, Jolo, Sulu, island of Mindanao, Philippines. Mr. Tulawie is a human rights defender. He is the Provincial chairperson of Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS), a coalition of Bangsamoro civil organizations (CSOs) within the province of Sulu. His works involves; monitoring and documentation of human rights violation cases affecting muslim communities in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao, especially in the province of Sulu.

Violence erupted when demolition personnel from the National Housing Authority (NHA) attempted to evict around 600 families in an urban poor community located at Sitio San Roque, Barangay Bagong Pag-Asa, North Triangle, Quezon City on September 23, 2010, 8:30am.
Carrying mallet, pickaxe and crowbars, the demolition team was about to tear down shanties when residents resist and refuse them to go near their houses. Moments later, a scuffle took place when the demolition team and protesting residents throw stones at each other hurting several homeowners namely: Nita Estabillo, 47; Florebi Agasita, 30; Teody Gacer, 54; and, Alberto Cavosa, 60. All of them suffered bruises due to stones and debris thrown on them.

On the 21st of September 2010, the nation will once again commemorate the declaration of Martial law in the Philippines by the late President Ferdinand Marcos.
We cannot avoid but reminisce the dark years of Philippine history so that we may never ever forget the supposed lessons learned by our people. We remember, so that the atrocities of martial rule will never happen again.

FIDH and PAHRA welcome the commitments made by youradministration to address the human rights situation in thePhilippines, in a context of ongoing grave violations of human rights,in particular extrajudicial killings, torture and enforceddisappearances, and of a persistent culture of impunity.
